Cancellation

Please note that the student places are permanent and continue automatically to the next semester unless they are cancelled. Cancellation can be done free of charge until 30th of April. For cancellations made after this date normal cancellation terms will be implemented and we will charge at least 20€ administrative fees. A written cancellation has to be sent to info@arkki.net. We do not accept cancellations via telephone. Nor can cancellations be made directly to the teacher. Please note that disregarding the invoice is not a cancellation.

 

Last lessons for the spring term

The teacher has informed you about the date and time of your group’s last lesson and the timetable of the excursion. If you are unsure of the timetable of your child’s group, you can also be in touch with our office.

The common closing ceremony of Spring term for all Arkki groups is held at Cable Factory’s Pannuhalli on 6th May from 12 to 4 pm. Also parents and other family members are welcome! Please note that the other normal lessons of your group may have ended before the closing ceremony.

Autumn term starts on week 36:

Architecture and building event for children at Pannuhalli on Saturday 6th May from 12 to 4 pm

Arkki organizes a grand event where you can build shapes, houses and cities. The event is open for everybody and it’s free of charge.

You can choose between various workshops in different scales and with different kinds of materials, such as Lego Building for children of all ages. In these workshops you can learn the basics of architecture in a fun way by building together structures or cities.

The event is the closing ceremony of Spring term 2017.

Location: Pannuhalli in Cable Factory on Saturday 6th May from 12 to 4pm

 

Architecture and design camp in August!

Arkki organizes an extra camp at the Cable Factory. The focus is on doing with your own hands, creative problem solving and building scale models.

F3 Arkkitehtuuri- ja designleiri 31.7.–4.8.  from 9AM to 4PM

The entrance fee for the camp is 220 €. The price includes all the materials used during the camp. The teaching language is Finnish.

NB! Meals are not included in the price. Everyone has to bring their own packed lunches.

Renewing student places and forming groups for spring

Please remember that the student places in Arkki are permanent and continue automatically to the next term unless they are cancelled.

The student places are renewed automatically for the spring term. Keeping the student place does not require any further actions.

The groups will meet at the same hour as this year.

You will receive an e-mail confirmation about the student place. Bills for spring term fees will be mailed in the beginning of January. Please update your contact information to Arkki’s office to ensure that the bills find their way to the right address.

If you wish to keep your student place but haven’t received a confirmation until 10.12. please contact our office.

Cancellation

Cancellation can be done free of charge until 30th of November. For cancellations made after this date normal cancellation terms will be implemented and we will charge at least 20 € administrative fees. You can read more about the cancellation policy on our website.

Free workshops this weekend

LEGO® skyscraper Workshop at Pikku-Aurora Sat 12.11. at 10 a.m.–1 p.m.

In this workshop everybody gets to build their own fantasy tower in a shared city that will erect during the workshop. There are 40 000 LEGO® blocks in use so you aren’t running out of building materials anytime soon.

Age recommendation for the nonstop family workshop: over 3 years.

Pop Up Card Workshop at the Korjaamo Design fair Sat–Sun 12.–13.11. at 11 a.m.–5 p.m.

In the Pop Up card workshop you can design a three dimensional card that works well for example as a Christmas card. You also get to take the card home with you.

In this instructed workshop you can use kirigami and origami techniques.
This is a nonstop workshop. Suitable for over 4-year-olds.

Autumn term starts on week 36

The first lessons of autumn term in Cable Factory, Helsinki are held on Monday 5th of September and in Espoo and Vantaa on Tuesday 6th of September.

You will receive a group-specific schedule for the autumn term from your group’s teacher. We would like to remind you that you should check the dates of the excursions because they may differ from the normal schedule. (The curriculum for Child & Parent groups does not include excursions.)

Updating the student information

We are updating our student records and ask you to inform us in case of changes in your contact information as soon as possible by e-mail: info@arkki.net.

Tuition fee

Please make sure that your child’s tuition fee is in order.

Green City LEGO® workshop on The Night of the Arts 25th of August 2016 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Arkki organizes the traditional Lego city mega workshop where the participants can let their imagination wander free on the fields of creative minds. Come envision and build a green city! There are no age limitations in the workshop. You can join forces with your whole family or with a group of friends to build a magnificent monument or the tallest building in the city! In the workshop we will build a dream city where individual houses form together an exciting entirety.

There are 40 000 white Lego blocks in use so the only limits are time and the roof of the factory hall! The workshop functions nonstop. At 9 p.m. we will find out what kind of a city has risen to existence!

Autumn holiday on week 42

All of Arkki’s groups have their autumn holidays on 17th – 23rd of October. The regular lessons will not be held during this time.

Architecture and design camp on the autumn holiday week!

On the autumn holiday week Arkki organizes an intensive course in the Cable Factory for children between ages 7 and 10. The focus is on doing with your own hands, creative problem solving and building scale models.

Architecture and design camp Mon-Fri 17th – 23rd of October from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.

A new birthday workshop: Fashion design!

In the fashion design workshop you can design and decorate a handbag and present your creation on a catwalk. Every participant can take their handbag home!

Student works

Student works from Arkki’s Spring exhibition can be picked up from our premises in Cable Factory tomorrow from 5 to 8 pm or next Tuesday, May 24th from 5 to 8 pm.

Unfortunately we cannot store student works longer than that since we have to start our annual spring cleaning before the summer camps begin.

We will start organizing autumn’s schedule and student groups from next week forward. An email confirmation about the autumn’s student place and groups’ meeting times will be sent to all students during the following weeks. The invoice will be sent by mail. Please remember to cancel the student place if your child will no longer continue here at Arkki.

LEGO® -workshop in Solvalla on Saturday 13. February at 11–14 o’clock

Snow city with Legos – Winter wonderland covered in white snow

Come and join building a white and magical fabled snow city with Legos! Each participant can build their own castle or habitation. The workshop runs with non stop –principal and is suitable for kids of all ages.

Children’s birthday party in Arkki

For a birthday party that’s both educational and fun ”Sweet Architecture”, “Sweet City” or “LEGO® -Puzzle City” workshops are memorable and unique events. The party can be arranged at Arkki´s inspiring premises in the Cable Factory. In these workshops the idea is to inspire the participants to learn more about our built environment and provide knowledge about architecture. Read more about the workshops from our website.

Arkki student works displayed at Design Museum’s exhibition ‘The Century of the Child’

The exhibition compiles Nordic design for children from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day and it seeks to illustrate connections between products and environments specially designed for children with the development of society.

On display are also lego constructions and observation towers built by two Arkki groups. The exhibition is open until 13th of March 2016. Visitors under 16 years of age free of charge.

Tuition fee

Excursions and Christmas party

Pii Poo’s lego building event at Vantaa Energia Areena on October 25th

Arkki is participating in Pii Poo’s LEGO happening. The event is open to the public on Saturday 24th October from 12am to 6pm o’clock and Sunday 25.10. from 10 to 18. Arkki takes part only in the Sunday program.

The event has an entrance fee.

Easter holiday

All Arkki groups are on Easter holiday from 3rd to 6th of April.

Arkki’s spring exhibition from 25th to 26th of April

“Green building” – a fantasy exhibition made by children

At Cable Factory, Pannuhalli from 25th to 26th of April between 10 am and 5 pm.

The exhibition displays an extensive joint work of art made by all the 550 Arkki students. The theme of the piece is durable construction. The “Hill town” project carried out by children will examine the relationship between architecture and nature with the theme “Touch the earth lightly”.

There are also open workshops for people of all ages on Saturday and Sunday from 10 am to 5 pm.

Parachute Fairies and Castles in the Air exhibition

From 15th of January to 15th of April at Oma Lääkärisi clinic in Espoo.

The exhibition features imaginative built castles in the air and parachute hovering fairies built by the students of Arkki’s groups in Espoo.

Arkki students and the official residence of Santa Claus

How  would the official residence of Santa Claus look like in real life? During the fall term Arkki’s students have made their own proposals and the smallest ones also wrote letters to Santa Claus. Autumn break on week 24

All Arkki groups have an Autumn break next week – from Monday 13th to Saturday 18th of October.

Autumn timetable

Teachers inform parents via email about their groups spesific timetable and ending of term.

All groups for 7-14-year-olds will have an excursion during the term. Teachers will send more information about dates and locations.

Please make sure your email addres is up to date in your childs information.

Taking a banana boat to Vartiosaari – children as city planners

Exhibition 30.9.2014 – 23.10.2014

Children were given the opportunity to design the future of Vartiosaari at an architectural camp held in Vartiosaari from 2nd to 6th June 2014 and organised by the Helsinki City Planning Department, the Arkki School of Architecture for Children and Youth and the City of Helsinki Youth Department.

The exhibition showcases the colourful and imaginative designs produced at the children’s architectural camp.

Student pieces in the exhibition

The exhibition is open the whole month and none of the student works present can be removed before the end of the exhibition.

The works can be picked up from Laituri, Narinkka 2, on Monday 2nd of June at 9-12. This is the day when the exhibition is taken down and the pieces are removed from the ensembles.

Spring term 2014

Spring term ends this week in Vantaa and Espoo. For Helsinki based groups the teachers have informed about last lessons.

All the groups have own openings for the Arkki anniversary exhibition in Laituri. The dates have been informed separately.

Office opening hours

Due to exhibition arrangements Arkki office personnel will have limited access to email between 24th and 30th of April. Phone hours are as usual from 12 to 4 pm during week days.

On 1st of May Arkki office is closed.

Birthday workshops in Arkki

Arkki arranges birthday workshops per order. Sweet Architecture, Sweet City and LEGO Puzzle City workshops are a great way to have a nice party for 12-15 children.

All of the workshops last for 2 hours and a fun educational part is included. Children built for 1,5 hour and afterwards there is half an hour time for giving gifts or enjoying refreshments e.g. birthday cake.

Price for a Sweet Architecture or Sweet City workshop is 200 € plus a material fee of 5 / 7 € per child.

Price for LEGO® Puzzle City workshop is 220 €.

Autumn break

All the English groups have Autumn break next week. Teaching continues normally from Monday 21st October on.

Most of the Finnish groups do not have a break. All groups will be notified via email if there is no teaching.

Excursion

All the 7-14-year-olds make an excursion during the Autumn term. Every teacher will inform her own group about the details.

Christmas parties

The last lesson of Autumn term is a Christmas party where parents are welcome to meet the teacher and to join the children in marveling the work done during the term. Teachers will give more detailed information about the parties.

Arkki 20 years jubilee

Arkki, School of Architecture for Children and Youth was founded in 1993. We are celebrating the 20 year jubilee during 2013-2014. During spring 2014 there is about to be a series of exhibitions in Helsinki culminating in a main exhibition in Laituri on May.

Arkki 20 years layout

During Spring term 2013 Arkki students draw pictures of famous buildings in Helsinki. We have now launched a celebratory layout for Arkki materials featuring the images drawn by the students. All the students have already received a notebook with the drawings as cover art.

Arkki 20 years book

In spring 2014 will be published a book about Arkki’s past, present and future. The book will be a collection of stories and pictures from the 20 years of Arkki.

Autumn term
